Fun with no wind
what have you been doing all summer? This has to have been the worst this year. Coming to a town near you soon. Cheers N

Cable
Notice anything different on the first youtube video? The guy is wearing a kiteboard harness with a rope attached to the bar. Always wondered whether this was possible, or even safe.

Yes, you are correct. I have been trying to figure this out for about 10 years now and on this system yes you can and do it safely. The angle of the line is very much like having the kite at 10.30. Its killer for teaching in many ways.

Hey Neil,
Is that Matt, looks like him? Have to agree with Frank, why not just hang on to the tow handle like wakeboarders instead of tying in? If he screws by that floating platform and gets pulled into it, wipes out and inverts or ... things might get ugly. Does the system rely upon a vigilant operator to hit a kill switch if necessary? Looks a lot simpler and less costly than a normal cable park operation. Would rethink the connection to the wakeboarder though, when in the cable park ... just use the handle.

Yes that is Matt, we have been figuring out a kite simulator. The 2.0 is the closest we have ever got to the real thing, the cable goes back and forth and you follow it just like a kite, going back and forth rather than around a lake. Hooking in is making it even more realistic for riding, body dragging and muscle memory/locating quick releases. The cable is operated by another person with a simple control panel that consists of a forward, reverse, speed and a stop button that can stop the pull in just over 1 second, that makes things very safe. Almost as if the operator is controlling the kite and wind. With a short line it is by far the closest thing to kiteboarding or any kind of simulator that I have ever found. I have tried for years using trampolines, pulleys, bungies and numerous other stuff with little success. Cheers Neil
