Thank yourself my friend...
Thanks for the props Erick and Ross, but the credit and focus should be 100% on Ross' in my opinion. An hour long lesson spent with Ross dwarfs in comparison to all of the time that he has put in on the water grinding it out to get to this level and I was very happy to see him win the very well deserved most improved rider award at this years race. It's just great to see Ross so successful in such a short time, he is the kind of person that sets a great example for others looking to get into the sport and is a very positive addition to our community of kiters...not to mention the fact that he beat my race time by well over 10 minutes!!!

Toby, why not talk to your sponsor and see if they will still donate the kite they promised?

The agreement between the race committee and the company was that the kite would go to the winner of the juniors division. That was to be a 16 and under division.
Seeing as the youngest rider was Ross who is 17 and he was the only rider who was even close to that age group, I am not sure why they WOULD give it away. The company is also morally against pulling kids out of schoool just so they can compete to win their kite. I can't say that I disagree with that line of thinking. A weekend 16 and under juniors race is currently being planned by the company in question in order for the kite to be given away as promised in a way that encourages kids that skipping school isn't cool and doesn't pay. There is no need for the prize anyway now that freak dog has donated the board, Ross has 2 very nice prizes in the board and the Infinispin.

Thats a great accomplishment Ross!
Not sure which board they gave you, but you will probably like the 140x40 the best. I have a few new ones here in various sizes/colors if you want to switch it out for one that matches your style/quiver. The Freag Dog guys are Florida kiters and have been a major sponsor of my personal efforts and several other schools, clubs, and events, since their launch last year. I have plenty of their kites for demo for anyone who wants to try them. Check out FDK home page and watch the video of Ariel and Jose riding. The trick at 1:10 is unbelievable. |
