Neil Hutchinson Injured
Neil Hutchinson broke his leg in an unusual accident while riding out through some surf off Jupiter in powered conditions recently. He has had two reconstructive surgeries on his leg since then. Send out your thoughts and prayers to this man who has worked so hard in promoting kiteboarding for many years.
Neil has been very active in kiteboarding for years. We owe him a lot for his efforts. He has donated his time to announce at kiteboarding events all over for quite a long time. Hang in there Neil, hope to see you up and out on the beach in no time. Some photos from over the years appear below: Neil at a KB Party in Ft. Lauderdale last month Announcing at the Claudio Silva Benefit Party this year. The raffle announcing went on for a marathon few hours! Neil with his admiring public at a KB Party in December 2004 Neil and crew becalmed at the 2003 Shell Air Sea Show in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was prepared to throw down tricks in front of over FOUR MILLION SPECTATORS! Neil being interviewed at the 2003 Islamorada Invitational You can see a video Neil's ill fated towup to 150 ft. on http://kiteflix.com/ under "Wipeout" More comments from Neil about this accident at: http://www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewt...light=oblivion Neil and judges at the 2002 Islamorada Invitational Neil catching his breath leaning against a classic car in Cuba after setting a world recordkiteboarding crossing from Key West To Cuba in Dec. 2001. Neil and Oliver crossing control bars at the first Kiteboarding Competition in South Florida in Nov. 2001 I have quite a few more from events and launches from all over from years past buried in the archives. Still, you get the idea, Neil has been riding hard and strong into this sport for a long time. Send your best out to Neil, he has been pulling for us for quite a while.

I just spoke with Neil. He arrived home from the hospital last night following the second surgery on Monday. He is in a great deal of pain right now and can't move.
The second surgeon found some serious conditions including a trapped meniscus pinched between bones and seriously deteriorated cartilege. He has been told that he must keep pressure off his leg for six weeks after which the Doctor will assess the situation and decide how to proceed. I told Neil that time can accomplish a great deal and to hang in there. Send your thoughts and prayers out to Neil. He might like to hear some words of support too, his email address is: nhukusa@aol.com .
