Good news about my injury...
Went to specialist today who says he doesn't think it is a tendon injury after all. He thinks the impact caused some internal bleeding inside the lining of the bone, causing some extreme irritation and that compartmental swelling and then pain. The swelling has increased the pressure in my leg compartments, restricting blood flow and causing the numbness in my foot.
I went for an ultrasound and they did not find any blood clots (which was the biggest concern). The pain has gone down quite a bit also but I still cannot feel anything in my foot. Side note, my 12m waroo arrived today. Color is golden yellow and grey. It's awesome looking, I love it... and my 2007 waroo bar will be here Tuesday. (Thanks to Daryl at extreme kites) I bet you guys were powered today! Holy crap, it's cranking! -tom |

Thats exactly what I felt in my shin after running into the stell bench,
it'll hurt and be numb for awhile but hopefully it'll be pretty close to back to normal in a few weeks , good luck! |

Great news. I knew you were just being a puss% (just kidding... you are the last guy who would be that way).
Great news for certain. It was good wind, not ballistic, but very nice Hey!! I wanted the smiley at the end of the other sentence, not as a friggin' header! I think the old format was more user friendly. Who has the manual for this one? Last edited by Skyway Scott; 12-22-2006 at 05:20 PM. |

Yeah, well that was the most pain I've felt in long time maybe ever. It hurt worse than when I broke my leg in 3 places when I was in 3rd grade.
All I could do when it hit was roll around on the ground and groan. I did that for about 10 hours. I finally fell asleep at 5am. I agree, I liked the old forum better in a lot of ways. Still no file attachments |

Great to hear that update from you Tom, definitely didn't want to see you have to go under the knife! I hope you feel better soon and miss as little riding time as possible...
After being on this platform for a couple of days, I agree with Scott that the old one was much more user friendly by the way... |

Yeah... when I started riding I remember Jeff Weiss telling me to never try to recover the board during a jump if one foot slips out... I generally follow his advice and kick it away but this time I did not and I paid the price.

Hello Tom,
Hope the pain goes off soon and full recovery comes fast. This is the first type of this accident that I have heard of. Considering how it happened you would think it might be more common among kiters. Did your doctors comment on how common this sort of injury is in general? You launched a jump and just before landing one foot came out and you tried to reinsert it. On impact with the water the edge of the board slammed into your shin? Was there much bleeding from the hit? Sorry for all the questions but this is a new one. Feel better fast!
