Angry wind in the morning

it's been killing me the last few days .
it seems like it's windyer inland than it does at bluehill.
i'm driving along looking at the tree's and flags thinking it's going to be good and I get there and I'm skunked.
it's like there is an slightly upper level wind the passes the shore and drops onto land because of the land heating up.
can any1 help me to undersatnd this?
aj
