On The Water, Having Fun Wind Or Not
You're jonsing to get out on the water in SE Florida but the frontal winds haven't arrived quite yet. You can see one creeping down the coast just starting to ease over Tampa to the NW. What to do in the meantime? The Kitehouse Miami in addition to providing sea taxi to the Miami Flats rideable in winds from all directions is also standing up, into Standup Paddle Surfing in a big way. These boards provide a great way to ecotour and snorkel Stiltville and less visited cays down in Biscayne Bay like ... Soldier Key and Elliot Key. The boat would deliver you handily to the paddling snorkeling grounds and sweep you back to the dock again after a full session. More about Biscayne National Park at: http://www.biscayne.national-park.com/info.htm#his Want to get out but all you have is gnat sneeze puffs to do it in? A standup board may offer some options as Mike demonstrates. And if the wind picks up to about 6 knots they have been cruising upwind on the paddleboards ... turning them is a challenge worth trying. The Kitehouse have been teaching wakeboarding for fun and developing board skills for kiting by starting with a paddle board and slow speeds. They even progress to wake wave ridingwithout a tow line. Hey Mike, what is the longest someone has riding like this continuously? The Miami Flats are waiting with lots to do and see, wind or no. Check it out! The Kitehouse Miami . Paddleboarding the flats
Thanks Rick
Even though it has been a little light lately we have been staying busy. Running out to the flats and keys just south of Miami has opened our eyes to new no-wind activities. We load the boats with padddleboards, mask & fins, fishing poles, kites (just in case) and maybe a few beers, and head out to one of the numerous spots just 20 minutes from the marina. Or do a day long trip to Elliot Key. So we thought we would open this up to the public and offer low cost trips on non windy days. Is a good way to spend a day, paddleboarding is fun in the shallows and you can ride almost any wave around. And when the wind comes up just a little it is very easy to get going and riding upwind with the paddleboards. Of course when the wind comes up we are out there kiting these great flats. We have found so many new and fun sandbars this year, you gotta check them out. Mike www.kitehousemiami.com (786)380-2269 |
