Spambots, the final solution?
... probably not, but hopefully a step in the right direction.
Pending Lenard coming up with another solution, I've shifted the configuration to where the administrator will be emailed upon new registrations. I will have a chance to checkout some limited aspects of the applicant which may or may not tip off that it is a spambot. Either way, it should reduce the number of these pests getting on here. It will also mean a slight delay in legitimate users getting signed up.

I've been doing it fairly often for sometime anyway although sometimes too late to stop the IBC* from being posted. It isn't that bad at present, only 7 bot incursions since last night. What buttheads write this stuff?
You folks are more than welcome. Lenard has been delayed out of town but should return next week. I hope to undertake quite a few upgrades in the near term upon his return. * IBC = inane bot crap! |
