The Storm Passes
The cold front that brought some much tragic devastation and horrific loss of life to the South, passed over Florida and out to sea tonight. More at: http://articles.cnn.com/2011-04-28/u...nties?_s=PM:US and Horrific Damage Photos . Much of the power of this violent system had substantially dissipated before it moved down through the state. The potential for violence was still evident in the cloud forms and radar images as it passed however.
The radar near the end of the day. I was located just to the north of this red line in Delray Beach, FL. Some funky ragged based clouds with intermittent funnel clouds developing even over the ocean. A 180 degree view of the seaward extension of the squall line. This shows up in the radar image above. CLICK for full sized image. Good stuff to avoid. There wasn't that much wind this time. Thing is, you never really know what these things will throw down, until they do. The satellite image of the system about to leave Florida and the USA. Good riddens. Radar and Satellite images from http://www.rap.ucar.edu/ The destruction is astonishing as a result of this single cold front. So many lost and buildings destroyed.
