Default Fin size

What's the relationship between fin size and board performance? Size and light wind, heavier wind? Also, just got a new Spleene Door with off setting fins and two different fin sizes. It was fed-exed so the fins weren't attached. Do the larger fins go on the wider more heelside positions or vice-versa? When I attach the larger ones on the more heelside wider positions they stick out just ever so much at the ends. Doesn't seem right. The shop hasn't gotten back to me yet is why I'm posting this.

I'm learning about the same stuff too man.

In talking with my local shop, Watersports West...

I was told that on light wind boards, smaller fins are better, as they create less drag and you can ride faster. SOOooo... I'm trying to get the smallest fins for my JL Flightdeck. I may go finless.

On all my other boards (120-139) I have 1.5" fins. Any bigger, and it was hard to spin the board on the water.

I want to try even smaller fins though.

I'm curious about other responses to your questions though.
