Yeah, I think the trend in the industry is going towards wider boards for better upwind ability, at least 39 cm. In light wind it's nice to have a board that's not ridiculously long... 130 - 145 cm instead of the old 150 - 170 range. It doesn't feel so tankish.

For a while some of the small boards seemed to be going ridiculously tiny. While they're good for holding down power, they're hard to land on and won't have as much pop. With kites having more depower now, I think people are realizing that a really small board (125 or less) is rarely, if ever, necessary.
