I was just speaking with Paul Menta of The Kitehouse. They have been getting 20 mph plus for quite a while. It is gusting over 35 as I am writing this, on the mainland, sigh. Despite that the water is still relatively calm due to the Florida Reef Tract breaking up deep water waves miles offshore Checkout the historical winds for Sand Cay at
http://www.ikitesurf.com/windAndWher...113&siteID=313 Paul tells me it gives a fairly accurate indication of winds closer to Key West as well. Head out with the Kitehouse's sea taxi service and tear it up on the Flats.
Secret back country spot. Imagine this in 20 mph?!
So, just want to get out and rip loose on the Flats, party at night, The Kitehouse can help you there.
- Want to learn to kite, nothing easier, checkout Get'n Schooled.
- Want to move up from that LONG BROAD intermediate rider plateau? Then checkout "Summer School'd" even though it's fall, it's still good.
- Want to focus on moving past those advance riding hurdles, why not "Go Mental?"

Note: checkout the aerial video of kiting the Flats, insane stuff.
They even setup and tear down your kite for you in all that shallow warm water
Accommodations may be a bit tight on Bone Island at this late date but there are probably digs for rent still available a bit further up the Keys.
Can't make Fantasy Fest, well there is always next year but in the meantime the riding is still fine and you can fall off a log and start your own party on Cayo Huesto.
