Why do I wear a helmet?
My wife told me to or I couldn't play.
While self learning four years ago I hit my head on the beach really hard,once without a helmet was all I needed.
I raced for years in other sports and had to wear them for protection so why not now?
I've seen other people get hurt and wished they had been wearing a helmet and I'm old enought to learn from their mistakes.
On Nov. 4 I had a bad crash from a simple mistake, something that all of us have been guilty of. The results was a sprang wrist, torn muscle and tissue around pelvis area, herniated disc, and lots of pain. The kiters who saw the crash said my head bounce like a basketball off the sand bar. I know the helmet saved me from a possible head injury, for sure a big time head-ache.
Lesson learned. No more jumping except in deep water or in my case make sure you don't run out of water. I am paying for my mistake, no kiting for two months and lots of hurting. So act like a nerd and wear a helmet. Works for me.
