my friend Dan and myself had our share of woes before we were able to get our first waterstart.. took a hell of a lot longer than we expected and to be completely honest there were times where it didnt seem to be worth the effort. Even once we got up and riding, it was all downwind and after numerous walks up the beach w/o making much progress I really didnt catch the bug until nearly a year after I had my lessons.

but i tell ya..

as soon as you make that first upwind tack and you get the feel for what kiting can be like.. all your pain, frustration and misery will be forgotten.

As well, summer riding is so hit and miss that things probably wont fall in place for you until we start getting some consistent winds.

I'd recommend a trip to Hatteras or another summer kiting location!!
