I wouldn't worry too much about asking for help with a launch. If you take your time and explain it well, you are most likely okay. If the guy just isn't getting it, don't be too shy to tell him you decided it was a bad idea.

Then call him a loser and go get some hot chick to help you instead. (LOL).
