Whenever we say we will be out wakeboarding, we are usually out all day long. Steve or I can be reached on our cell phones if need be and all are welcome to come out and have a good time riding behind the boat on a day when there is no wind. Sorry you missed us Karen, call next time! 941-284-0477 8)

A good time was had by all other than a few hard wipeouts but who am I to complain? Today was a blast, rode all day with a break in the middle of the day to tie up at the Wharf to wait for the storm(s) to pass. In the afternoon, the water ended up being complete glass which was perfect weather to wakeboard on.

However, on the ride back from the restaurant (this was when the storms were still affecting the gulf somewhat) we hit some rough seas in the gulf and encountered a little 16 foot bowrider that was taking on water with a bilge that was not working. We picked up 4 out of 5 passengers of the 7 on board that little boat who jumped ship. They proceeded by kicking and screaming and crying like crazy in spanish and calling 911 over a boat thats only problem was that it was a little flooded and had a malfunctioning bilge pump! It was pretty classic!

Then the dingbat driver of the vessel in trouble pulls right across my bow right before a wave pushed the boat forward, injuring a woman's leg on board their boat and the nose of my boat bending up their bimini top support bar pretty good!

The story they gave us as to the reason they were taking on water was because this same 'captain' of the vessel in question saw that the chop picked up considerably out in the gulf and decided it would be a good idea to just cut the engine!!! They then took on water as a couple of waves drove into and over their transom and into the boat leaving about a half of a foot of standing water inside while they bailed water as quick as possible. We ran across them just as they started to ditch the boat but they soon realized that they were just carrying WAY too much weight and the boat was eventually able to limp into the Ft. DeSoto boat ramp. Needless to say, it was an eventful day! Hope to see some more faces out there next time!
