those boards actually look pretty cool...
and FYI theres a big differrence between how many days are surfable, and how many days are surfable and available (due to work, family, etc)
i used to surf all the time... till i started kiting

FWIW we do actually get waves often here on the gulf coast... when I was surfing it was easy for me to surf three or four times a month during the season, sometimes more. You have to pay attention to the reports and weather more than you do with kiteboarding... and if you know how to pick the correct spot, the waves are pretty good and clean (for the gulf). However the surfers will not be happy to see you on the inside there because those spots are typically crowded... but riding on the outside is a good option... there are some bigger and cleaner waves out there that are difficult to paddle into... so the surfers can't catch them out there (and trust me they wish they could). |
