Arrow Photos - United Caribbean Wreck

Some photos from a recent dive trip aboard the Lady Go Diver to the wreck of the United Caribbean. I was scooter free diving and shooting with two GoPro Hero3 cameras mounted on a Quikpod Monopod.

Motoring up on the bow of the wreck across the bottom

This post is all about Scooter Free Diving. Something not to be undertaken without plenty of proper free diving training, skill development and good procedures for this specialized type of diving.

Up and over the top, heading towards that hatch into the forward compartment in the bow.

Free diving through the bow locker in the wreck of the United Caribbean (former Golden Venture). The vessel gained international attention when a smuggling attempt involving 286 Chinese nationals went wrong resulting in the death of 13 off New York in 1993.

The Golden Venture hard aground in 1993.

Heading to the surface for some air.

The severed stern section of the 150 ft. long freighter

"Skying Out underwater"

Motoring west to the severed stern section growing out of the haze.

Heading back down to the stern section.

Running through the port aft companionway laying against the bottom in about 70 ft. of water within the detached stern section.

Moving through the other companionway along the starboard side in the stern area.

Moving forward through the hold area of the broken ship

Sliding into an aft access door to the forward locker in the bow.

Scuba divers arrive

Heading up for a breath

Our dive boat, the Lady Go Diver
