Normally, I would advise going straight to lessons in which a trainer kite should be provided. Some ideas to consider when choosing a kiteboarding instructor/school appear in How to Start Kiteboarding located at:

http://fksa.org/viewforum.php?f=102

and specifically under: http://fksa.org/viewtopic.php?t=1130

I heard that the Boardroom in Naples no longer has an instructor on staff. I am not sure if this is still true or not. Rick or Latino in Marco Island was pursuing his instructors but I am not certain if he has completed the program yet or not. To the north in the Sarasota area, there is Laurel with http://www.islandstylewindsurfing.com/ . Further north in the Tampa /St. Pete area there is Eagle with www.tampabaykiteboarding.com . A lot of instructors list info at: http://fksa.org/viewforum.php?f=42

The pricing of lessons varies as does the content. I would carefully consider the ideas for selecting an instructor discussed in the article referenced above and talk to some candidate instructors in your area.
