Rinse your bar, lines, and especially the metal parts of the system.
Spin the chicken loop under a stream of fresh water after each use to remove any sand or salt. Let dry outside of the bag. Hit the swivel once and a while with WD 40 or someother corrosion prohibiter.
If you do this after each use the chance of failure is much less.
I treat this gear as if my life depends on it.
