Usually good on a North wind. NOT advisable for beginners, hazards include large rocks/rock jetty near the highway and of course I-275 and the parking lot (not as forgiving an area as even N. Skyway)on one side of you, mangroves on two other sides of you. Wind can also get very gusty there. Lots of conch shells, some rocks in the water, and LOTS of small shells on the launch area. More than one kiter has injured their feet here, be careful. You can easily tear a hole in your kite and/or bladders with all of the rocks and shells on the beach if not careful.

Launch is off of the South Skyway exit on the Northbound side and you have to wade through the water to the little island during high tide or can just launch off of the wet beach area during low tide. Just make sure if you launch during low tide and leave your things on the launch area that the tide does not come in and soak all of your things. Water is usually a bit choppy in most places, there are a couple of areas that it flattens out a bit but nothing like North Skyway, Lassing, or East Beach. Not my favorite place to ride because of all of the hazards but it will do on a North wind.

I hope this helps...
