BTW, our "fresh water" is loaded with chlorine.

I used to rinse my kite and soak my bar and lines every time I rode. It destroyed them both in a very short amount of time. The lines lasted only 4 months.

It's ok to rinse the kite once in awhile, but definitely do not put it in the pool.

Three things you should probably soak often in fresh water however are your pulleys, knife, and bridle...

Mildew is what will destroy your kite faster than anything as it rots your seam threads. Salt prevents mildew growth ... it also absorbs free water molecules. Thats why it works so well as a preservative.
