Default Right of Way Rules

If you don't want to be "that guy" on the water who is always getting funny looks, yelled at, getting the middle finger, or just plain run over, please learn these Right of Way Rules for Kiteboarding. This is something you should have been taught during your lessons.

Also, if you see someone going towards the shore ahead of you, make sure to turn around and go the other way BEFORE they do. This is called "pinching", and can be quite frustrating to the guy who is getting pinched on every tack and has to stop and wait for you to move.
Other common names for it are "boxing me in" and "riding my ass".

A simple solution to "pinching" is to stop and wait 20 or 30 seconds to get some space between you and the other person, so that you pass each other on opposite tacks.

Happy kiting!
