Tampa Bay gets all kinds of wind. I would argue to say that we might be the windiest place in Florida maybe next to the keys. I don't think you can beat the access from all wind directions. Still pretty laid back here if you get away from Tampa.
As far as waves, it is only a 2.5 hour drive coast to coast to Cocoa Beach which has some of the best waves on the Florida Coast.
The central Florida corridor west to east has it all IMO.
