Dan and I tried out our drysuits this morning.

I give it complete, total thumbs up.

Absolutely wonderful to step out of the suit 100% dry.

It feels a bit odd to walk around in on the beach. But as soon as you are on the water its allows for full range of movement and is super lightweight.

Very easy to get into.. I am even able to zip it up myself (we have the back zipper types)..

I know the PYRO suits have the front zippers, but they are 250$ more than the ones we have (BARE).

I wore light sweatpants, tshirt and a light sweatshirt underneath.. perfect for today. probably even fine for much colder weather..

Cannot recommend enough. Not easy to throw down 400$ for something like this, but I hate being cold and I know the drysuit will get a lot of use and make my sessions that much more enjoyable.

Yeah dry suits are nice... I used to do commercial diving in canada and drysuits were pretty much mandatory.... it was great being able to get off the boat completely dry ... unless of course my suit leaked and then I made the drive home cold and wet.

Did you get a suit with booties or ankle seals? We used Bare wetsuits during deep/long cave dives in 67 degree water and they were excellent.

Make sure you keep the zipper waxed. There is nothing worse than being stuck in a drysuit.

I got Donna a O.R. Pyro. I don't get very cold myself, but I might even get one in the future if my wetsuit rips, mainly for the increased range of motion and I think it might last several seasons if taken care of.

Any thoughts on how long a dry suit will last if taken care of? I haven't ever had one.

The main thing I hate about my wetsuit is trying to take it off (seriously). It's a great suit, but it gets stuck on my ankles in the shower and after riding all day and tired, the last thing I am in the mood for is a friggin' isometric workout.

its tough to get the drysuit off.. the ankle portion especially.. much tighter than wetsuit..

They are usually harder to get off , Usually this is where they fail/ get ripped because people are tugging so hard at the seams to try and get them off that the seams break. Its nice if you have the type with superstretch material which is more elastic and comfortable. Mine is a Neil Pryde drysuit and its lasted me many years if you don't pull too hard on the seams and lube the zipper with a vaseline type lube every so often.

simple suit.. no frills.. perfect for occasional use here in Florida..

If we had to wear these most of the year I might have opted for a more expensive model w/ breathable materials and front zipper..

how long the seals last will be the deciding factor if we got skunked by going w/ the inexpensive model.

but again, you can buy and install new seals.. if I need quality seals next time, i will buy them.
hope the current ones last a couple seasons.

talking with trent (who wears and old pyro) he had to replace his seals after they reacted with sunblock and broke down. odd stuff indeed.

Pretty cool. I may pick up a Pyro sometime. I am in no hurry though. My 3/2 is warm enough for me for now for THOSE prices!!!

After yesterdays early AM session I am absolutely thrilled w/ my drysuit.

I know we dont live anywhere near to the coldest area .. but there is a lot to be said for being comfortable during and after a 4 hour session.

As I typically have to do a DP and then go to work.. it saves a lot of time and towels.

Now i need some gloves. my hands are still tingling. :)

Saw Bryan yesterday AM get out of that thing and stay warm in his sweats... Pretty sweet!!! Hopefully I'll get one eventually, great idea!!!

BTW, thanks for letting me try out the Skywalker Dimitri Pro 135 yesterday Bryan! It ROCKS!!!
