at Treasure Island this weekend
 

Hi there,
I will be at Treasure island this weekend & looking for info on local riding do's and don'ts. I think Indian Rocks Beach is the closest riding beach?
Anyone know about riding off the beach in front of our Hotel?

Anyone else planning to be out Fri afternoon, Sat or Sun?

Looks like sat/sun are the days. Its going to be south and you should definitely head to Ft. Desoto East beach if you are into riding flat water. Arguably one of the best spots around when the wind is up! Otherwise you can ride the Gulf Beach on a south....just try to stay outside of the swim buoys while riding and be aware that the beach will be crowded. East beach is the best bet!

looks sweet - guess if I'm in the bay I should pack my booties?

I'll have 2 of my brothers with me some of the time. They took lessons a few years ago but haven't ridden since. I feel pretty comfortable getting them sorted out but want to make sure that if I am with them, that I am in an area used to having beginners around. Is East Beach such a place?

East beach (not really a beach, more like a large grass flat just inside a sand bar) is definitely the place for beginners. There are always a few beginners out there, so you won't feel out of place bringing some more. :)
Yes, not a bad idea to wear booties due to some sharp things like pen shells living in the grass bed.

The Gulf beaches would probably be a mistake due to the beaches being very crowded and many people in the water.

East beach was a great experience last Saturday -- got my bro up for his first ride and I was stoked to be riding with 20+ other kites around!

Appreciate the way everyone gave us lots of room as I was getting him reacclimated to flying a kite and finally up riding!!

Much as I like my home waters you guys really have it nice down there!
