Need Puerto Rico info
Going to kite in PR in a few weeks. Can anyone give me some advice on where to kite and stay? Also things to see and do other than kiting as well as nightlife. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Ken, Will here......hit Kiteforum.com for this question. Worldwide forum with plenty of Kite Schools/ Instructors from PR on it. I have used it for good info while in the Pacific islands. Have fun.....and yes I will make one of these;)

Kiting season just started, you can kite and stay in Ocean Park or Isla Verde both near the airport. Wind is NE and you can get big waves 1/4 to 1/2 mile outside

If you feel like a road trip, La Parguera on the SW coast offers some offshore kiting around the mangrove cays.

La Parguera doesn't really work this time of year. It does work during
the Summer, starting around Mid May on. You need SE or E winds, Also half the reason it works is the Thermals and dry air, once again a summer event. This time of year you get NE/E winds 90% of the time with a very occasional N or NW. I would stick to the North of the Island this time of year |
Interesting, I understand La Parguera works because of trade winds, substantially augmented by thermals like Cabarete. I didn't know the trades turned off or become unreliable in the cooler months there. The Christmas Winds make for nice conditions in a lot of islands further down the Antilles. They bring some nice consistent winds to BVI to the east unlike the more fitful summer conditions there. I thought Shacks goes off in the winter months, or is that just for waves with poorer wind prospects? I imagine the north coast goes off as you say around San Juan with frontal activity maybe even augmenting things with the orographic winds the NE coast is known for.

Thanks for the advice.! Looking forward to it. Any advice on hotels? Al-kitah says Tres Palmas. Looks good with kiting in walking distance but they may not have a room available on our dates. Need to have a back up.
