Landboarders come forth. SE Florida

Hey,

I've been dabbling with the idea of trying some landboarding but SE FL (tri-county/Keys) area does not seem to be too landboarder friendly (large open fields with fairly clean wind).

Anyone been doing any landboarding in SE FL?

I haven't because of the tight beaches, soft loose sand. Compared to say Daytona, it is a different world down here. You might try a college campus near you as long as they don't get heartburn with the idea. They usually have vast grass fields and at times limited wind shadow.

Campus field! Ya right. I got kicked off one for flying a stunt kite. Imagine what a 12 meter would do.

Cmon. There has to be some open fields way out west somewhere where the wind is free and the land owners dont give a rat of you ride on it.

That is the only place in my area I've heard of guys doing it. It was a few years back though. Why not look around via google earth and see what you can find? There are so few land traction kiters here you might be cutting new ground.

I have yet to find a really good spot, most of the time I ride it is in small fields with my 3.5 meter foil in ripping west winds. At the end of Loxahatchee road is an ok sport to ride a bit.

Purchased and sold MBS landboards twice over the last few years, with the same intentions as yourself.

Here what I've found:

A) There just isn't that much "well groomed" open land that isn't a Golf Course down here in South FL

B) The Ground/Earth just flat-out hurts to damn much when you bounce off it.

C) We have some of the Bluest , Warmest waters in the United States. With the luxury to ride in ANY wind direction w/in a 3hr drive

So pretty much "C" was my deciding factor!

Good luck with your quest ;)
