wind in Abaco

Have been up to Abaco on work several times and the wind seems to be much more consistant and stronger. Great bays and waves on the outter islands. Have not had a chance to take gear up, but may do next weekend.

Looks like quite a few nice launches along the Abacos. I noticed trade-like winds cycling south of there off the Berrys this time last year. They kicked up as the afternoon wore on and faded around sunset. Wonder if they have this in the Abacos and points east as well?

Shredding inside White Cay in the Berrys. GREAT spot, butter on the inside, waves on the outside and reef in between!

Hey AJ what do you know about winds in the Central Bahamas and thereabouts? It seems like you folks may have more going on than systems sliding off the continent, tropical systems and may have some outer tradewind influence.

lots of rumours and theories about higher wind speeds and consistancy in central and southern Bahamas but not much in the way of weather stations or fellow kiteboarders to expand the info.

There has been an offical expedition to Andros where we found tons of potential but were out of wind on that weekend. Locals were talking about months of 15 to 25 NE'ers in the autumn and spring, "but it usually drops off on Sundayafternoon" !

As a rule of thumb, I'm thinking Northern Bahamas in NE's and Southern Bahamas in SE's.

PS - where's my Hellfish
