WINDS AND SEAS OFFSHORE. BAY AND INLAND WATERS CHOPPY.

SATURDAY NIGHT

BAY AND INLAND WATERS CHOPPY.

This weekend is looking nice!

If anybody wants to hit up East Tampa Bay, give me a holla, really nice on North winds. 2 weekends ago it was just me and Lori kiting + 2 windsurfers. How odd is that? Still, it was one of my best days ever!

inferno 03-15-2007 10:05 AM

im heading out in 15min for EB :)

BigR 03-15-2007 10:38 AM

Gift wind I guess:D :o :D

A-Bomb 03-15-2007 11:01 AM

I'll be hitting EB around 2:30 or so.

Yup, looks like a good weekend. Last weekend was the first in quite a while that wasn't great. ...and there was still decent seabreezes both days!

Like Skyway Scott says, the way it's been lately, you can pretty much count on Sundays to be good.

Skyway Scott 03-15-2007 01:12 PM

Thank goodness, too.
I think it has blown 7 weekends in a row. Yeah!

Skyway Scott 03-15-2007 07:31 PM

Obviously blew today.
Give us some EB reports.

I heard it was pretty good.
Steve-O, Jeff, Dave, myself and others hit Blue-flag beach today.
I got there a little late due to work, but had a great time.
I thought I was gonna be there alone, but I saw 3 Waroos from the street and thought (sweet.....)

I heard (from a trustworthy source) that the eye-candy was epic earlier (oh, the wind was better too!) I know... bunch of 40 sumtins' talkin' about spring break and girls, pretty sad, really.. but fun just the same.

SW when I got there at 15 or so. Good enough to have fun, no doubt.
Nice to see other guys out there. I thought I was gonna' be alone (not that I mind), but always cool to see guys hitting the Gulf. ;)

Kamikazi 03-15-2007 07:34 PM

what time were you there

Skyway Scott 03-15-2007 08:54 PM

5 30 or so til 7 30.

toby wilson 03-15-2007 08:59 PM

EB was nice, not too crowded so everyone got to spread out and have plenty of room. Epic for most of the afternoon, then kind of died off some around 5:30. Billy Parker was ripping it up as usual...

TampaBay Noob 03-15-2007 09:34 PM

Rode at Dunedin Causeway late afternoon...between 4:00-7:15. Good winds and one other local kiter out there (Paul). Def. a nice little session on my 9m. Tomorrow looks like a prime day for riding the gulf, winds appear to be shifting from SW to W through the day. Anybody thinking about tackling the gulf tomorrow?? I should be able to make it out but don't want to ride solo if I can help it.

btw... what is blue-flag beach??

Wolfie 03-15-2007 09:46 PM

Watch out for those storms tomorrow...But if they get out of the way early I may try to get a ride on the Bay side. Maybe Picnic Island. Is anyone planning North Beach for Saturday? It looks like a kick ass day for it!!!!

Skyway Scott 03-15-2007 09:53 PM

Sounds like EB was awesome. It seems like Dunedin really nukes on souths.
Was it 20+ up there?

I am hoping to do a downwinder Sat. Tom and I did one last weekend, it was epic.
Blue Flag is on St. Pete beach. The flag is so old, it is now faded white.
It was blue 5 years ago.

It is the the beach with the public parking (meters) north of the Undertow by a half mile, across the street from Dolphin village.

Noob, Donna is going to ride tomorrow around 2 or so, maybe 3. Might want to post on here, she will check it.
I am gonna try to get out of work a little early.
We (she) will be at Blue Flag.
I personally love W wind, but make sure you are ripping upwind to out there, because that is dead onshore. I love it cuz you can cruise the up and down the entire beach.

Kamikazi 03-15-2007 10:12 PM

you like it because the girls can see you but make sur you ride at least 100 yards out. The girls dont lik old mans

Skyway Scott 03-15-2007 10:22 PM

I know. But I don't look a day past 40.

toby wilson 03-16-2007 12:00 AM

Tell Donna that I plan on going out as soon as it picks up. Have her give me a call if she wants to meet up. Looks like this weekend is gonna be a good one...

Skyway Scott 03-16-2007 05:05 AM

:p You gonna hit the beach or BS? She doesn't ride BS.

Thanks. I think Randy and a couple of others will be out, too. :D

I am gonna try to get out by 2. Seems like half the office is taking a half day, so I might too.

bryanleighty 03-16-2007 05:16 AM

i will be going to blue flag / undertow this afternoon as well as tomorrow AM (can only kite til about noon)

i rode backside yesterday from 4 to 6:30.

i rigged my 16m right when it picked up around 4 pm. solo launch and all was good then suddenly it started nukin..

i was able to land and get the 12 going and rode that for an hour before i went back to the 16 for another hour or so....

good times.. wind was odd.. it was there but didnt have a solid base .. gusty and dropping out a lot.

i will say this:

the men were ON THE PROWL yesterday. the flood gates were OPEN.
No exaggeration that there were 10 different cars that pulled up during my time there that the occupants just got out of their cars and walked directly into the mangroves. Then I would notice later that some cars were gone and some were still there and others would show up.

freaky freak.

Kamikazi 03-16-2007 05:42 AM

Bleighty, are ther a lots of mosquitos back there? Why do you now sow much obuot the mangrove? Hmmmm?

Paz bro,
Jaime

TampaBay Noob 03-16-2007 12:03 PM

Scott-- yeah dunedin really picks up on south winds because they barrel through a fairly narrow channel and it allows them to really blow. I'm stuck in the house til 2:00 (i'm on-call at work...bummer) but if I dont have to work I'll be heading out for sure. Blue-flag is out on St. Pete beach? It's a shame, I've lived here all my life and never been out there before. I hope I can find it. Let me know if you guys are heading out and what time!! I'd like to ride with ya if possible. :)

I rode BS. I'm headed out there again today. I would have rather been in the Gulf yesterday but BS is so much closer to home...great session and learned a lot yesterday!

BigR 03-17-2007 06:27 PM

Cool,
glad everyone had fun today

I am so proud of Lori completing a 20 mile downwinder today

we were underpowered from 10-12am on 9m and 12m kites with 130ish boards
in 12 gusting to 20 sometimes wind ave 15.

anyways, it was awesome 80% of the time, the rest wasn't enough wind but it made it a great downwind experience

next time might be a 14m contra and super phatty for me , but dang! the wind was good really early on B4 9am then came down!

Randy was teaching @ Skyway south by the time we got there about 1:30pm. I 'm prity tired now after that but it was fun. Why did the HLS helicopters trail us by port manatee anyways????..........

Skyway Scott 03-17-2007 06:46 PM

Very nice. That's a long way!!

toby wilson 03-17-2007 06:51 PM

Yeah, congrats Lori, great accomplishment!
