I'm going to try and head out, but it will be Picnic Island for me.

Skyway Scott 01-13-2008 04:28 PM

I am going to go out, but no rush.
Is it even going to blow much?

bigairal 01-13-2008 07:16 PM

hello from al-kite-ah

i am going somewhere tomorrow available at 815am i will post or check this in the am. allen

Kev 01-13-2008 09:36 PM

I may shoot for picnic too if there is any wind. I'm not gwtting my hopes up. all the forecasts are different.

inferno 01-14-2008 04:35 AM

looks windy enough to me, as long as tide is low enough...

BigR 01-14-2008 05:46 AM

Danny just reported solid 20+ @ skyway south, I'm outta here!

Wolfie 01-14-2008 06:17 AM

I think I'm going to stop by Picnic about 8:00, but it doesn't look the most promising (up and down). I'm only taking my 11M. If it's not enough I'm out. Hope to see anybody who wants to try!

Sorry to hear that Phil.

It was still solid 20-25kts when we left, around 9:30. oh , and tide was perfect.

Lori on 7m, I was on 9m and Danny 0n a 12m C. + some older dude on a 'roo.
Matt S. just got there as we were leaving. Thats why I post on here for Dawn Patrols, you gotta go early if ya wanna be on your small kites

inferno 01-14-2008 01:37 PM

FlexiFoil=FF

therefore,
FlexiFoil=really Fast
:)

Rodan'sWings 01-14-2008 04:13 PM

Thats OK Raul, NOAA:
THURSDAY--SOUTHEAST WINDS 20 TO 25 KNOTS BECOMING SOUTHWEST 20 KNOTS LATE IN THE AFTERNOON. SEAS BUILDING TO 6 TO 8 FEET IN THE AFTERNOON.

BigR 01-14-2008 04:55 PM

I suspect it was pretty good up by cleawater or sand key most of the day, but then thats a long drive for you

Rodan'sWings 01-14-2008 05:07 PM

Lido beach or Siesta Key work on S/SW, they are alot closer to me. But the currents usually bad.
I hope we get some waves

BigR 01-14-2008 05:13 PM

which one works best or is easiest for a windsurfer?

I suspect Thursday I'll be tagging along with my father in law who'll be using all my old windsurfing stuff

LOL!!!!

Rodan'sWings 01-14-2008 06:17 PM

Both are OK for Poleboardin' but the inside current rips at Siesta. Ill try and post a report when the time comes.

Siesta Key Sharks - Anyone Else Seen?

hey all - trent has seen two sharks at siesta in the last few months - last one was a whopping 14' and before that a 9 footer

both have been between beach access 5 and 8 and only 20-40 yards from shore (I think they follow the deep, dredged channel that parallels the beach and heads to the pass

anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else has spotted them (not much freaks me out but those suckers do) - all I have ever seen are 4 footers

???

Rodan'sWings 01-15-2008 01:43 PM

Yooooo JOE!

Thats fascinating, ive never seen any sharks at PB Siesta, and i grew up there. I hope they are only using the channel as a pass thru....or could it be their food supply is scarce? YIKES

oldschool 01-15-2008 05:54 PM

I Hope The Sharks Eat .. Phil, Trent, Rob, anyone but

me!

Hey Phil. Ya' Trent wasn't even SMOKIN THE WEED when he saw them - last one made him come in and call it a day - and you know Trent - that ain't liek Trent AT ALL!

Anyway, if there are some really big buggers out there, I hope they get one of you guys and not me - no offense intended - lol

See ya' soon bro

Chad085 01-15-2008 07:52 PM

if we each got a dollar every time we kited within 20 or 30 feet of a shark, we could probly all afford a new quiver every season!!!! Something to think about on your next bodydrag:D

Skyway Scott 01-15-2008 07:59 PM

Yeah. They are everywhere and less harmful than the shells on the bottom, imo.

evil shellls
my foot still hurts some when i ride....

maybe its pay back for all those years i went scalloping:confused:

Chad085 01-15-2008 08:06 PM

the traffic on the way to the beach is where the real danger lurks.........

Danimal8199 01-15-2008 08:28 PM

I fear that if there is not a federally supported asault weapons ban soon we all may be in danger...

NAH bring that ish on, I want an AK boo-yeah!

Chad is right, I hear about how great the drivers are up north and its because all the bad ones live in florida!

Skyway Scott 01-15-2008 08:29 PM

No doubt. That's by far the most dangerous thing I have ever done or do.
In what other situation will your body go from 65 to 0 in less than a second, or have 2 tons slam into it? :(

Luckily, I have never been in an accident. (well, I did hit a armadillo going 90 once :o )
