widen spreader bar

I have a 10" bar and I am about to get a 12" bar. However I was wondering if anyone knows of a good way to extend the harness clips or straps. Or if a wider bar is availible. The reason I ask is I am going to head to park city for a week and I hope to spend most of the time attached to a kite. right now my harness does not fit very well over my snow gear and I would like to extend it. Anyone have any ideas?

You might look into finding a large stainless steel (aluminum bars have broken under kiting loads) spreader bar from a windsurfing supplier, perhaps online. You might try calling one of the larger shops up in Hatteras to see if they have any ideas. Another thing that some guys do is to use a harness hook hole in their ski jacket. It is usually precut and lined with bias tape when manufactured of course. Have fun in Utah.
