Probably has been posted before, but to my surprise this weekend at a kids b-day party when my three year old son walks up with a Capri Sun and there is a Kite surfer on it.

When does this get added to the X-Games?

Yeah. I first saw that Capri Sun about 3 years ago in Publix. That was probably the first "mainstream" thing I saw. I even said to Donna "well, here it comes".
I took a pic of it and posted it on Tom's old forum. Kiting was still pretty invisible back then compared to now.

I also remember when finding a video on the internet with kiting in it was uncommon (we are talking 8 to 9 years ago). Now 1 pops up every day on Kiteforum or similar. Obviously some of that has to do with today's low cost of digital vid cams combined with really easy editing tools.

I also remember when there were only 4 online sellers of kiting gear and maybe 6 brands.

Pretty amazing. What is going to be interesting for me to see is if interest in kitesurfing peaks and then drops off in the States. I don't think interest will ever wane in Europe, but I have seen many hobbies peak and die in the US over the years.

Was talking more with Damo today and he said that the Gorge Games next summer will be broadcast on FOX Sports. Will be the first big kite event on a major network. I think the big air event will take the cake.

Planning to go if anyone else is thinking about it, let me know. Bill and Damo said it is the best event by far.

according to SBCKiteboarding they were just on fox sports net from july 31-aug3rd. Anyone catch them?

i believe fox sports is regional.. possible it was broadcast locally to Portland but not here.
