http://usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/c...t=Get+Forecast

I'll be at EB as soon as I can get out of work.. hopefully by 2pm.

Anyone wanting to give my 131 Skywalker board a test ride, feel free to hit me up.

Skyway Scott 01-04-2007 10:04 AM

I am hopeful too. However, let's not forget last weekend's let down.
It's a coin toss.

Skyway Scott 01-04-2007 10:24 AM

Randy just called me. It is do-able! He got a call from a rider.
Hopefully it will fill in.
We are gonna go to EB.

bryanleighty 01-04-2007 10:26 AM

Well Well... Mr. Crappy Attitude...

I see the cup half full.

hahah..

actually thats a lie.

I was really hoping to have gotten in tons more riding this season so far. Been dismal thusfar.

blah.

Skyway Scott 01-04-2007 11:17 AM

I don't get the crappy attitude thing (I said I was hopeful, but let's get real, it's south wind and that means it's a coin toss).

Yep, this season has been an enigma. Worst December I ever remember actually.
Where did the cold fronts go? I have been riding in shorts lately. (??)

Skyway Scott 01-04-2007 11:50 AM

Randy just called again. It is now blowing zero

Weird winter ---- http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16457787/?GT1=8921

The Elusive South strikes again...

C. Moore 01-04-2007 12:40 PM

Sorry Scott.. I just read you link and it talks about El Nino too. El Nino = No Wind.. :(

bayflite 01-04-2007 02:40 PM

it's global warmin fuzzin up our fronts.
damn cow flatulence.
they should put charcoal pillz in w/their feed.
scott, i seam2 remember dec and jan being a phlat spot in our season.
the best (march, april, may) iz yet2 come.

Skyway Scott 01-04-2007 02:49 PM

Some mid winters really bite, no doubt. Especially that one that my friend Joe wanted to start. He quit out of sheer "skunk frustration". Remember that winter!?

Seems like the last 2 were okay (?). Maybe not, maybe just the sensors were high. This winter has definitely sucked (as opposed to blown), imo.

What is most noticeably absent is the classic NE dawn patrol.
I am use to doing a ton of those in the winter. I can't remember one (strong one dying at 10am) this season.

DanB 01-04-2007 07:48 PM

more wind

well it is about time that I start posting a bit and let bryan relax some- and since there is no wind to speak of why not

Just hoping this winter kicks in and gets cold and I can use the damm dry suit I got for this season!

oh well there is always sailing if we could get a mere 3 or 4 knots

"Pray for wind" as my old windsurfing sticker use to say

Wolfie 01-04-2007 08:30 PM

I will be out at EB as soon as I see some wind. I'm sure I will see many of you out there! I have the faith that it is going to be a good day.

Skyway Scott 01-04-2007 08:54 PM

Yeah,

Donna got a drysuit for Xmas. WTF.....!!??? LOL

E-Bone 01-05-2007 06:54 AM

Dudez, it is going to blow today. All the signs are in place. It's nice to see the forecast get a little stronger as this afternoon approaches. Hell, it looks like it might start blowing before noon.

See you on the water, byatches!

inferno 01-05-2007 07:11 AM

looks like ill get to try my new board:p

Skyway Scott 01-05-2007 07:51 AM

Of course global warming is real, duh.

It would seem everything is in place.
Doppler looks good up north.

Coin toss tho due to cow farts.
Last weekend had me totally confused. Cow farts!

bryanleighty 01-05-2007 08:01 AM

scott..
can you put together a post on how to get a gauge on what to look for w/ the doppler?

maybe some links/examples.. etc..

we probably need a sticky with the best weather related links.

besides the SW sensor on Ikitesurf I look at :

http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/tbports/tbAllMET.html

and

http://usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/c...t=Get+Forecast

and

http://ompl.marine.usf.edu/PORTS/m01010/gm01010.html

for realtime/near future stuff..

Skyway Scott 01-05-2007 08:09 AM

Usually on a forecast south (in the winter) there is a frontal boundary to our north.
As it nears and it gets warm here with the heat of the day, the SSE winds light up (meaning goes from about 11 straight to 20) and then gradually shift to SSW and then SW.

This is what happened 2 Fridays ago and I thought last weekend it would.
It usually does. Last weekend was just weird. I think all the wind was up to (too far).
Trust me, I don't have a clue as to the whys b/c I don't read weather books, but I have observed trends or patterns over the last 20 years with the wind in this local area.
That is one "pattern" which usually holds. Fishing is the same why, I don't really care "why" tarpon do things, but after awhile, you start to know the whats and recognize patterns.

Doppler is showing that band to our north again, so I am hopeful.
However, given the fact that is El Bastardo or whatever, I have no idea and am just throwing chicken bones around here (I suspect Josh Linker is too).

Either way Donna and I are going out today and getting some sun and hopefully some wind. :p

bryanleighty 01-05-2007 08:33 AM

skyway showing 19 .. gusts to 21..

im getting optimistic.

CrazyJay 01-05-2007 08:34 AM

Skyway Scott 01-05-2007 08:49 AM

BigR 01-05-2007 08:57 AM

RbGar 01-05-2007 10:21 AM

It's 60 degrees up here

toby wilson 01-05-2007 10:49 AM

You all suck! It's blowing and I'm stuck in the office and all of you are out there laughing at me and riding!!!

Well, I'll get the last laugh! I'm going to go outside and start farting. I had a LOT of garlic with dinner last night and I have been beefing all day here in the office! I think the bathroom walls are melting. Since I haven't gotten to ride lately, I can probably pass for a cow. Watch out for the cow farts, I'm getting even...

shogun1204 01-05-2007 12:53 PM

Me too

Yeah being stuck in the office sucks! Hopefully the wind will keep blowing for tomorrow! (Most likely not, but i am hoping!)

Erick 01-05-2007 01:59 PM

Brothas and Sistas!! have fun I'm in the office till 1700. Be safe! until the next one.

A-Bomb 01-05-2007 02:20 PM

sigh..... stuck in the office too. I'm feeling as though I might be coming down with something though and may become "sick" Mon. and/or Tues.

Monday Night
North winds around 15 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet. Bay and inland waters choppy. A slight chance of showers in the evening.
Tuesday
North winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet. Bay and inland waters choppy.

I felt kind of "sick" today, but I knew we were going to be severely under staffed and did the right??? thing.

E-Bone 01-05-2007 04:24 PM

Speaking of sick, that was a sick session. 20 kites at East Byatch, I rode at Backside instead and cruised over to East Byatch with Jayson, Chris Moore, Gary, and a few others, showed everybody at East Byatch how to hold shit down, then charged back over to Backside.

After a few hours of that, had to wrap it up, charge DcMonalds and scarf a Big Mac.

Hell, yeah!

Skyway Scott 01-05-2007 05:43 PM

Yep, It was windy. Started off REALLY windy (spiked to 30 on Donna RIGHT as we launched her at 11 am, unfortunately), then died, then BAM, solid wind again.

Bayflite let several people demo the Mako today. Several people including Donna and I rode the 134. http://oceanrodeo.com/makopro.php

That board is definitely worth a demo ride, imo. It screams upwind (better than my custom UG 137) and feels exceptionally smooth in the chop (I am talking it cuts like butter). It also carves very well. It's a smooth ride. I don't know about being a dedicated trick board, but most of us aren't dedicated tricksters, anyay.
Anyway, I was impressed with it and Donna really loved it, too.
I was surprised by it's low end and how well it shot upwind considering its dimensions.

Nice day out there today, for sure.

toby wilson 01-05-2007 06:25 PM

Mako

Uh-huh...OR Makos...like butter... :D

Wolfie 01-05-2007 06:40 PM

The Mako was certainly an interesting board. I would really love to try it on a day with waves in the gulf. It holds a lot of power down for the big jumps!

Skyway Scott 01-05-2007 07:20 PM

Yeah,

Riding it in combo with an Instinct made for such a smooth ride it was like having shocks on the water and a gust muncher in the sky. That's pretty neat, but some might think it takes away from the "experience" of kiteboarding.

Obviously guys like Jay and Billy will always keep this sport extreme, but otherwise, wakeboarding is more extreme than kiting with today's equipment, imo (and that's fine with me).

bayflite 01-05-2007 07:34 PM

gust muncher :)
that's awsome.
i'm stealing that frayz
i'll b using it alot
thanks bro.

Skyway Scott 01-05-2007 07:39 PM

Ozone coined it. Donna and I kept trading that kite on and off today. I guess some people were getting confused about the one kite for two riders deal.
She just told me she heard this alot today ----
"But he looks LITT on that, you were just on the same kite?"
BTW, You were looking pretty frickin' good today. :) :p
