First things first is you should spend the money on food rather than a board. 6 foot and at 150 pounds?

But all kidding a side. Since you are new to the sport you will want to start out with a small kite and big board. How much are you willing to spend? Boards can range from $400 -$600 dollars brand new.

Let just stick with size for now and look for a board that will get you up on a plane . I would suggest a shorter board but wider, like a 132cmx46cm. A wider board makes it easier to balance in my opinion.

Good luck with your lessons.

A "Best Float" is one good board for beginners. 133x45 I think it is. It has a huge range due to the width but rides like a small board. So it's good for both beginners and for bigger guys like myself (190lbs). Also works very well in light wind, jumps well, etc. Get it with the large fins (1.5" I think).
