Key West.

Looking to head down to Key West midweek to Friday. What is the forecast going to look like? Also like to get the scoop on the etiquette for Smather.

Thanks in advance...;)

It pains me to say this but it seems we are about enter into the "June Calms" maybe a bit early this year. In many years, not all though, there is a shifting of gears between the wind season and summer. There can be about of a week or more of calm, often rainy weather. It is still pretty far off for reliable forecasts and this is subject to change, still current conditions seem to support this.

Regarding riding at Smathers be sure to read the following carefully:

Hope you get wind anyway and there is a lot more to Key West than kiting to enjoy. Have a great trip!

No wind forecast for the next few days, but who knows , we might get lucky. On Wed afternoon if there is no wind and conditions are calm enough I am planning on taking my boat out to watch them sink the Vandenberg, give me a call if you want to come with and watch.

Hope you make it out there Greg. Say, if you can do it, could you grab the GPS numbers for the location the sink it at? I hope to come down soon, rent a boat and go out and shoot some UW video on it

Thanks!

I just heard they may sink it in the morning , if that is the case I won't be able to watch it, but if they do it at 2pm when I heard they were first supposed to sink her ,I will be out there, We are not allowed closer than 1 mile, so a gps fix will not be any use, however they are going to place mooring buoys for the boats to tie up to, and as far as I know, within 3 to 4 days she will be open for the public to dive.
