Where you guys riding at.....?

Anyone going to NB....?

Going to be fun...

Skyway Scott 03-07-2008 05:30 PM

Probably downwinder central tomorrow.
Some guys might hit NB. Not to be negative, but it's most likely gonna be WAY too much for your 13. :(

<jason 03-07-2008 05:49 PM

Yea no kidding....
Steve might let be borrow a 9mFD..
We'll see...

Today was awesome. Did a DW with Al-kite-ah, Tom, Russky, Inferno and ran into others holding ground at different spots along the way.
It started off gusting to 40, but after 25 minutes or so settled down to something more reasonable (solid 30). It literally looked like a sandstorm at first with sand 100 feet high filling the sky like out of a movie.
Some pretty decent waves in some spots for around here. Beautiful day. Wish we had days like this every weekend.

Oh, I saw a lady briefly put up a 3m trainer of some sort on really short lines right next to the shoreline while I was rigging.
She put it up for all of 5 seconds, it caught some serious wind, was yanked from her hands, and then it just blew away.
Wish I had that on video. It was pretty funny just how fast it blew away (40mph) :)
Good thing the beach was deserted.

was it from JP to PAG?

NB was purrfect starting after 2pm when the crazy wind dropped a smidge but had by that time churned up nice waves and wind was a manageable 9m

<jason 03-08-2008 05:53 PM

well I stopped by TI, PAG, and NB... had a 10m but not the nuggets to put it up:rolleyes:

EB tomorrow....? not sure if it'll blow or not.... anybody know:confused:

Tom Stock 03-08-2008 05:56 PM

Yeah it was fun.. measured 20-40 on the beach, 30 in the parking lot, looked like a sand storm. Waves were pretty big but got pretty small as we got towards PAG. It was blowing solid 30-40 at T.I. and 20-25 at the undertoe at the end of the DW. I was pretty underpowered towards the end... funny to see 6 kiters with kites and boards occupying the front half of the trolley.

dan b. and i hit sunset beach park.. first time either one of us have ridden there.. great great place.. wind was gusty but w/ solid 20 base.. 7m waroo for the first hour and 1/2.. then upped to the 9m for another couple hours..

yesterday was better if only because of the warmth of the winds..

great 2 days.. im completely spent..

Upham beach rocks! Some pretty nice waves. Rode with Randy, Cornel, Brooke and some others. Had fun there although i paid the price a couple of times when some waves exploded in my faces. LOL

bigairal 03-08-2008 06:37 PM

great day

thanks scott for loaning me the 7m waroo. waves for terrific. good wind ....sunshine...shredding with the bros.....

Tom Stock 03-08-2008 09:50 PM

I also had to borrow one of Scott's kites (6m) because the 9m would have been waaaaay too much for 40.

I appreciate it also, thanks.

Thanks for rubbing it in guys. ;)

I only have my 16M Thruster at this point, am waiting for a replacement for my shredded 12M Thruster before I can brave winds like those...glad you guys had fun!

Toby

No problem on the loaner kites.
Al obviously got the better loan. That 2002 6m C kite looked pretty funny (and small) out there.
It was blowing up to 40 when we launched though, so I thought it would work. I told you you wouldn't get blown off of it in 40. :)
It needs 30 to really work though, kinda funny really.

It looks like it might blow until 11 or so, Jason, from the NE. It just picked up at the SW (it often picks up as it warms up for a few hours).
I checked this sensor http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/obhistory/KSPG.html and it's blowing 14 there.
It's usually about 3 to 4 knots more at the SW and the SW sensor says 20, so 15/17 now at SW right now seems reasonable to me.

It will probably spike out at the SW at about 8:30 am (it's currently 7:40) for about 1.5 hours, then taper a tad, then die by 11.
That's the typical pattern on a day "like this" and my guess, for what it's worth.

It's pretty cold though. :(

Tom Stock 03-09-2008 07:36 AM

... not sure I am gonna bother... i hate riding cold.

Skyway Scott 03-09-2008 07:39 AM

I am working on that website. Not worth it to only get one hour and freeze. 3 hours freezing is worth it. :)
Tonight would be decent NP weather if there were water at Lassing.

Tom Stock 03-09-2008 10:33 AM

.. rode for an hour a 9... just ok...very very cold. Dropped fast and no water.
