Saturday, where'd you go?

Who went where and how was it?
North Beach was pretty good. Kind of holey though. That seems to be the theme the last few days.
Did anyone find solid 20+ with no holes in it?

Still a good day for sure, just odd that NB had holes on a NW.

BS skyway (wanted to work on tricks), it was swiss cheese and strong current. gave up after 3 hours or so and went home.

I was out at Picnic Island. It was also gusty and not all that much fun! I would say 13-21knts. But still better than nothing.

Some 7-9 year old kids thought it would be a neat idea to take my self-landing line so they could play with it. So I got to self land by crashing and pulling a front line. Not something I wanted to do for the first time in this kind of wind, but at least there were few people around.

Skyway Scott 04-07-2007 06:35 PM

Yikes. I have landed my kite that way too. Not the best.
Was anyone else at Picnic with you? I saw a kite out at Cypress on the way to Tampa.

How many at BS? Just curious.

We had about ten (maybe 15....) at NB.
I apologize to anyone at NB for my 30 seconds of cussing. I just don't like kites in my kite.
(not worth re-hashing) just wanted Toby and others to hear the apology for the language I used. Really never an excuse to cuss that bad.

It was only me kiting and some REALLY freaky people out there today! Our little launch spots really bring out an interesting mix of ALL kinds!

Sat Ride Pass-a-grille

Bryan and I headed out to Pass-a-grille

Could see you guys down at NB. Same conditions swiss cheese with big swells.

Good short session-had lots of chores to do. It was nice when we were powered.

We were able to stay upwind pretty good. Nice change from Backside yesterday.

Backside was 12-25... lots of fun, not. I was on a 16.

Although I did boost once at around 4:00 in a strong gust and went pretty big.. swung up and pulled bar in again hard and went even higher .. then I pulled the bar all the way down the last few inches and it gusted a bit more and I went even higher. The water became crystal clear, I could see the tops of the trees, and the wind suddenly felt very "different"!

I then crapped my pants because realized that if i didn't force a landing I was going to end up in those trees. I sent the kite to the opposite edge of the window and stuffed it intentionally. Seemed like I boosted at the sand bar and landed near shore. Crazy. Then it went back to sucking again, so I left.

Rode IRB 27th Ave this morning. Crazy gust. 3-rooker was more of the same. Kites literally dropping out of the sky at times. No lessons today and a good call.

Wow i thought it was just bs that was gusty but it sounds like it was gusty everywhere, even as far north as irb. strange!
