This is an important kiteboarding demonstration event part of the Miami Olympic Classes Regatta. This could be a first step in easing kiting into the Olympics.

"This regatta is open to all kiteboarders! There will be a practice race on Friday, January 28th at 1600 hours. The scheduled time of the Warning Signal for the first race each day (Saturday & Sunday) is 1100 hours."

I understand they will take competitors out to a nearby island to rig and launch by boat from Shake-A-Leg's facility in the Grove. http://www.shakealegmiami.org Folks wanting to practice on Friday will meet at this facility.

You're right these regattas are quite symbolic for a premier as an entry in the Miami's OCR.
Bad luck this weekend for Florida's Events though with unfortunate wind conditions.
that s... for Jupiter and Miami :(
Most of Our team drove to Jupiter today to attend and check the Invasion, at least it's always a good time to chill and meet the Florida crowd.

Next big event will be the Miami KITEMASTERS on April 9th & 10th 2011 ! for it's 8th edition in Crandon Park.

And this edition will be very Special as we celebrate the 10-year's ANNIVERSARY of Miamikiteboarding : 2001-2011 ! so we will go BIG this season and WE WANT TO SEE YOU ALL IN CRANDON THIS YEAR to celebrate together :)

Freestyle : Pro & semi-pro together ; Women, Amateur all ages.
Course Racing : All categories ; race boards & TwinTips
Strapless : Open Contest

We already confirm the participation of KPWT & PKRA Pro riders from France. It's official, and from what i heard they're really convinced to claim victory in each Contest !
Some good challenges ahead :)

Especially since we are working at a CASH PRIZE again for this Special Edition.
