Where to Take a Kiteboard Trip Cheap?

Hi fellow kiteboarders, I am fairly new to the forum although have been a member for a while. I am looking for opinions or experiences that you may have on where to go to an island and hang for a week and kiteboard? Someplace inexpensive (not Mexico)

Also not sure if anyone may be interested I will be going with probably one other person, and not sure if anyone on here ever takes group excursions to cool kiteboarding desinations!

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Gau

Hey Gau,
I have visited Mantra, Ecuador last year and loved it: great spots, community, downwinders and food with very little tourists.
You can fly for cheap to Guayaquil and the cost of life there is nothing compared to the Carribeans.

Cool thanks! Although I looked up on priceline and cheapflights and the lowest I could find for a round trip was $700.

Nice website too, makes me want to leave the office and go kite seeing those sweet pics!

It depends on the dates I guess.
I have found MIA-GYE flight at $400 with AA or LAN in the past on www.kayak.com

Wind is a key consideration in these times of irregular wind. Although I have heard great things about the conditions off Peru and Ecuador. Anyway, you might look into Aruba and Bonaire. Insel Air flies fairly inexpensively to these islands. The wind is pretty reliable too, except for now during tropical weather season. In Aruba, Boca Grande off the SE coast is pretty good. I found Fisherman Huts on the NW leeshore to be too gusty. Bonaire you need to go off Pink Beach around Red Slave off the SW corner of the island. The water is flat but you need to contract for a chase boat staged there just in case. Cabarete is another option but again tropical weather season can really mess with your wind prospects. Have a good trip wherever you end up.

Curacao?

Anyone know anything about Curacao? I went to Aruba a few years back and we got skunked ...it was june I think. Also, I recall that they are building another hotel at the fisherman huts area making it even more gusty. So, I thought Curacao might be a decent alternative. Here's what I found so far:

Check out http://www.curacaokiteboarding.com/contact_&_links.html and it gives you one kiting location. Could not find the others. The hotel is just down the road and it looked pretty cheap. Probably your standard roach motel, but decent enough for a kiter. Go to http://labougainville.com/ned/en/

I am also hunting around for cheap out of town spots this year so keep me posted.
