Peak at the New Slingshot Link

I don't know if you guys have had the opportunity to see the Link by Slingshot yet. I took some pics (including a few closer up) of the kite a few days ago after we demo/rode the kite.

Jimbo Manning brought a few back from the Gorge for us to demo. It had several interesting/nice features, one being the ability of the kite to be rigged using a bridle with four lines (hybrid) or more like a traditional kite using a 5th line (lacking bridle). Jim had one 12m rigged each way and we rode them back to back. We should have more complete reviews on our forum in the future, we just want a few more good days of wind on the kite to give solid/descriptive feedback.
First impressions are all extremely positive :D

I am curious, what size kite did you use and at what wind speed?

What are you comparing it to as a kite of reference? (a C or a particular hybrid like an Ion?)

Also, where were you able to get your hands on one? (these are pretty new!!) :D

Also, can you expand on the oversheeted statement.
I actually purposefully grabbed both back lines with my hands (above the bar) and attempted to make the kite fly backwards by pulling as hard as I could (easy with so many bows) and couldn't get the kite to do it. I found that to be very interesting. If I did the same with almost any other bow/hybrid, I could easily get the kite to "tucks it butt under" and drop out of the sky backwards.

Thanks for your inputs in advance.

Scott

Did you think a 12m Link would be a light wind kite?! Sorry, you lost me already. First post is negative and you seem out in left field.

We will be having a demo soon here is St. Augustine. The absolute best way for people to decide whether they like a kite or not is to demo it first hand, not read about it on forums. Sometimes forums have misleading information, or guys who troll just to bash.

Air compressor huh? I used a hand pump and pumped it up in 5 minutes.

Kitehigh must have realized he was off base.

Anyway, there is a demo of the Link for those who are interested this weekend in St. Augustine. One 12m kite will be rigged hybrid style, one rigged "classic" 5th line style without a bridle. Great time to make up your own mind.
Some people are bound to love it, some won't.
At least you will base your decision on reality.

We are hoping for wind, especially on Sunday and the tide should be running.
