Florida around memorial day (late May)

Hi

What wind can we expect in late May beginning of June?? We're talking about a trip (from boston) to Miami the memorial day week. Should we bring our kite gear?

I know late may is not in the peak wind season, but is there NO wind or is it like 50% of days or.. etc?

Thanks!

Kristoffer

That time of the year is kind of dismal for wind in Florida. Always bring your gear because you never know when the sea breeze will kick in and I don't need any hate mail. 8)

Chris has it right. Traditionally the winds largely turn off in the latter half of May until late June in normal years. Fortunately or unfortunately, "normal" has lost a lot of meaning in recent years. So there can be exceptions and there can be rideable days right into June. This year, who knows? Just hope for fewer hurricanes! If you can carry your gear with some larger kites, have at it as you might get lucky.
