Thurs PM ride

Accu weather is calling for SW 13 around 5:00pm, do you think we may get a little seabreeze on top of that and make it rideable after work today?? I'm thinking about leaving an hour or two early and head out to the beach. It looks like it might be our best shot for a while.

I have no idea. But, Sunday (by the Sunday laws of weather forecasting) will be good. :p

invisible 04-26-2007 08:18 AM

It was about 10 from the southwest when i drove by this morning... so I am thinking it is sucker wind... but there is always the chance a little seabreeze will add to it and make it 13. Worth a try.

invisible 04-26-2007 11:34 AM

HEads up ... Strong seabreeze down here in Sarasota....

pfarm 04-26-2007 01:54 PM

hey guys
i'm just visiting in town for the next week and i brought my gear - a quick question.

where would you ride on a SW?
can you ride in sarasota - i thought tampa was the closest area.

thanks for your help

BigR 04-26-2007 02:17 PM

Any Gulf beach close to you will work except for fred howard park and ft. Desoto

TampaBay Noob 04-26-2007 02:30 PM

woohoO! Winds were good today, had to cut the session short to study(finals) but it was blowing 20knots easy. I was overpowered on my 16m waroo jumping big! Rode from the causeway to honeymoon to caladesi on a low tide with craig w. and a new kiter bob I just met. Good $hit.

inferno 04-26-2007 02:33 PM

leaving for IRB 1st ave with bob......

bryanleighty 04-27-2007 08:00 AM

i got 2+ hours of good riding in at backside.

rode by myself for over an hour before anyone showed up.. i saw one kite flying at EB.

couple new riders showed up. as i was putting stuff away one new rider got stuck WAY down wind..almost at the bridge.. i told him it was a shitty place for a new rider.. i saw another help him to shore before the bridge so I am sure he is ok.. just a long ass haul back up the shoreline.

i do hope he is ok, but when i saw him go down and see him in trouble my first thoughts were "told ya so".. i feel like shit saying that.. but its true. the other rider was down there helping him immediately so I knew he was going to be fine. Just looked like he was having a very tough time body dragging to his board and getting stuck way down wind. yesterday the tide was moving insanely fast. very very difficult to maintain upwind. i wrecked on a failed backroll and got pulled a ways off my board. i got my footing in the waist deep water and within seconds my board was flying past me with the tide.

why are new riders showing up at backside??!??!

Skyway Scott 04-27-2007 09:54 AM

Yeah... everyone should HIT east beach. It is the Shnizzit. No one should ever go to any of the beaches though, they bite.
Only fools hit the beaches.

Danimal8199 04-27-2007 10:30 AM

Dunedin Causeway

Anyone want to hit the Dunedin Causeway around 1pm its kickin up around 15-16

http://www.weather.com/weather/hourb...nav_undeclared

and let me just jump on the wagon and say that east beach is the best and thats all there is to it!

D.

TampaBay Noob 04-27-2007 10:56 AM

danimal you'd be better off hitting up honeymoon since the winds are going to start shifting wsw around 2pm or so. If I can get some more reading done I'll probably head out there (honeymoon). Once it gets some west in it the causeway is gonna take a dump.

Danimal8199 04-27-2007 11:01 AM

OK Thanks for the advice. I'll probably head out there around 2ish then, thats if I can scrape up the 3 dollars to get into honeymoon, this sport is expensive!

You proved that yesterday eh?

bayflite 04-27-2007 12:13 PM

I hate the beach!
I hate E beach too.
I like Lake Seminole and Lake Maggorrie.
Also I-275 around 54th iz ok imho.

TampaBay Noob 04-27-2007 12:23 PM

I love new-shoe blisters

Woodson 04-27-2007 12:33 PM

I'm sticking with Picnic/Cypress until Im comfortable with jumps and then its on...

RSVP + 1 to hanging with the big boys...

Skyway Scott 04-27-2007 12:46 PM

Yeah,

Right off of 275, water or not, is always the best option.

I know a dude who rides at a church right off of 54th and 275. Not sure if there is a lake there or what but I always see his kite and I know he's jumping 'cause I can see him send it.

Skyway Scott 04-27-2007 01:18 PM

I saw him first, don't forget.
I saw him Monday on a Green 14m Naish.
He was screwing around with the wind going toward, not away, from 275.
Nice!!

Wolfie 04-27-2007 05:19 PM

Picnic Island is always a safe choice on wind from SW or SSW or even the S if you are adventurous. It was 13-19knts from 3-5. Good Times! I would like to say I am very happy with my Monkey 15M now that I have had 5-6 sessions on it. It is a grunty power house!

Skyway Scott 04-27-2007 06:33 PM

R U sure it wasn't 12 to 18 knots?

Sorry, I got a detailed "it's impossible to even ball park wind speed" speech once on a forum. Just joking around witcha.
Wish I was there.

Your handle is Wolfie, you have a squirrel (with nuts) as an avatar, and now you love your Monkey....

dude.....

Wolfie 04-27-2007 10:41 PM

Squirrels love my nutz!

And you can pet my monkey...But remember that it is 15 sq meters and quite turgid when pumped up!

And, Yes, I'm sure about the wind:)

Skyway Scott 04-28-2007 06:22 AM

I am too. It was windy outside my window all day yesterday.
Still hoping for the Sunday effect.

Skyway Scott 04-28-2007 05:24 PM

Man, who needs to wait for Sunday?!!

It blew real good at PaG and Blue Flag today for about 2.5 hours before it tapered off.
It filled in at the beach about 2:30 or so. Basically straight from 12 to 18 in about 5 minutes.

Hope tomorrow's seabreeze is just as good or better.

robertovillate 04-28-2007 06:44 PM

Make that 14 weekends in a row!! Phenomenal

Maybe I should get a real job??? :D

Skyway Scott 04-28-2007 07:55 PM

The "roll" started when I started my new 9 to 5 job (as you know).
I insisted that I would only accept the job with those hours if it blew on the weekends.
The boss told me that was a reasonable request and granted it.
I wonder how he managed that?
Actually, I am grateful for my job and am very grateful for the bonus wind!
It has been a truly unreal run.
