I am going to head out in a few hours, would like to see what these few lil feeder bands are going to do. But it doens't look like tampa area will get much rain. Thoughts??

Skyway Scott 08-19-2008 09:22 AM

It's unstable wind. It's sort of obvious.

Yeah, I thought that, Just wanted you to confirm it:D
Think it will get better this afternoon?

32-36++ @ SW

do you have a 6-7m? Danny doesn't count, he uses the 12m to 45kt:D

Skyway Scott 08-19-2008 09:45 AM

I have no clue. This stuff is way too unpredictable, which is why I am sitting here and not riding.
It's the possible gust to 60 that concerns me.

We rode from Gandy to Pinellas Point. Was on my 13 meter Fuel. That kite is awesome and has more range than any bow I've ridden plus the safety benefit of a 5th line. Was easily 30-35 around Coquina Key. Boosted 40 footers for 80 yards and reached 41.7 knots on the gps. Never really overpowered but definitely lit. Thats great for a 13 meter C kite, especially when everyone else was on 9 and 11 bows.

you guys are nutz, wish I could have joined you, would have joined you...

Lassing

I saw the crew come thru about 4:30 from the North on the 13 C- fuel and bows. I was on a 12 Crossbow and lit at lassing. 13 gusting to 30, decided not to lanch and save it for another day as I was solo and the winds where just to squirly:o Where did you guys end up?

RM3001 08-19-2008 08:22 PM

Did the water ever fill in at Lassing? I was there from 9am - 12:30pm on 9m and it was really low. Still rideable though and very flat and fast. Also walked over the sandbar to ride some of the bay waves.

So another group rode down from Gandy in the afternoon? Was it the same people that did it in the morning? I thought about going out again in the afternoon but I thought the weather was going to get worse. Oh and b/c I took a nap - how lame!!!

wdewilde 08-20-2008 09:26 AM

Water did fill in, you could get over the Bar. a couple of the guys that came down shot in and out on their way past.

is that your 07 fuel?

definately an awsome kite, im trying to find a 9m to go with my 11m...

i probably could have held down more now that i think about it since i never did pull in any 5th line....

definately has an amazing range for a ckite (18-30 or so)

and the loops are awsome on 22m lines.....

SW was about as good as it gets as far as im concerned. 20 - 25, and flat. Gotta love this buffet of wind, and its not over yet.
