Moving to Tampa next week.
You guys left a lasting effect on me and after hanging out at Bongo's and seeing the Tampa lifestyle last October, I just signed off on an 8 month project down there.
If anyone knows of a guy/girl that needs a roomie in the South Tampa area, please give em my number 678-231-7833. Tammy and Chris have been kind enough to let me crash with them this Wednesday to look around...I will be available Wednesday evening and Thursday to meet up if anyone has a apt/room for rent... Thanks guys... looking forward to riding with you... Bryan Woods |
Good Deal!
Glad to hear you got the job!! Looking forward to riding with you again!

hey man..
if you just need a small apt in a good location.. you might want to look at St. Pete. That its 20+ minutes closer to all the best lauch areas is a HUGE bonus. I live in central St. Pete and can be at the skyway bridge from my house in 10 minutes. Be at the beach in 15 and at the park in St. Pete in 5 or so if I hit the lights just right. I commute to Tampa for work but would never consider moving back across the bay once I moved here. St. Pete has a lot more to offer as far as laid back feel. I'd highly suggest cruising around Old Northeast.. there are always a bunch of small apartments for rent. My girlfriend pays 450$ for a 1 bedroom and its a nice place. Old Northeast is easy to find.. Take 275 south from Tampa. Take the downtown St. Petersburg LEFT SIDE exit (the one for the Pier)... off that exit you will go over an overpass and drop down into St. Pete. Take a left on 3rd street (one way) and in a few blocks you will go past 5th ave north and the road will go from paved to brick and you are now in Old Northeast. Drive around all the roads there.. its a great area and lots of folks have small apartments available. Let me know if you have any questions! -Bryan |
Brian,
We will see you tomorrow. Your job I heard is located in Lakeland, so south Tampa might be the only suitable place to live. That should be a good half way point between work and beaches. Have a safe trip and welcome to the area. -Chris |
Lakeland!!
haha.. very big unmentioned point.. lol. I'd consider Brandon or something close. Something close to 75 so that if needed you could hit 75 south to the Skyway to completely avoid Tampa traffic. |
Ha!
Somebody else got enticed over to my side of the bay! |
you might want to look in the brandon/riverview area. there are tons of apartments there and you'd pretty much be 1/2 way between work and the launches. its not THAT fun though unless you know people. I agree with Chris' recommendation of south tampa though.

i'd seriously rethink a daily drive from south tampa to lakeland. That a setup for serious mental disorders.
i lived in south tampa for 4 years and drove just to the MLK exit off of i-4. it would sometimes take 45 min to an hour to drive those 10 miles. i know the i4 interchange is much improved.. but still.. to get from south tampa to the freeway can be a chore.. then from there to I4.. then from there to lakeland.. no fun. stay on that side of freeways for a better peace of mind. come to this side for weekend and evening fun. |
I agree Riverview or Brandon are your options.

Hey Bryan
Steve S and I live in South Tampa, we are about a 30-40 minute cruise to Ft De Soto... an hour 20 minutes by bicycle...
If you want the scoop on Hyde Park/Soho....lemme know. I work for a real estate office in South Tampa and also used to do leasing in the area as well. Lizzard |
Thanks guys
So, South tampa at Bayshore it is for a while... traffic cant be as bad as ATL? right? went out with Chris and Tammy today and rode the sea breeze for the first time in St. Pete up from Undertow on a 137 vs the old ironing board 179... I have so much to learn...
Ran into Matt from Eckerd... that guy has the life for sure... Anyways, thanks for the info, look forward to a cold beer and learning a thing or two from you guys and hope to see you next week in Miami at the Kite competition... definitely spectating but hoping to get out and ride. See you out there. |

Thats a real nice area if you don't have to travel anywhere to work or kite, otherwise , 50 minutes to travel 10 miles. Welcome to the I-4 / I-275 nightmare! ( glad I'm not in it! ) |

We tried telling you, working in Lakeland it would'a been alot easier/ better getting a pad in Brandon/ Riverview and using the I-75 route to get to work or kitesurfing bypassing all of the horrible traffic.
Hey , Bayshore is real nice for laid back nightlife. |
