hitting the waves on Mon :)

whos in for a DP wave sesh?
accuweather has it out of the N at 16mph at 7am
ill probably go to IRB since TI will be a little off shore

Chris, you in??

Unimog Bob 12-03-2006 08:54 AM

It is Skyway for me! All day if my body can take it. I'm hoping for enough wind to try my 07 7m waroo at least on the glide. What an awesome looking kite construction wise. I've been dieing all weekend as my beeter half is out of town and it would have been perfect timing. I'm heading down to clean the running gear on our sail boat today.

Bob

Skyway Scott 12-03-2006 09:27 AM

I will be there too. Some forecasts are going for NE.

inferno 12-03-2006 12:16 PM

i guess i will just wait and see what the wind is doing mon morning, either IRB or SW

on second thought, id skip SW if i were you
tide is an insane -0.7 ft at 6am

guess that means SSW or SWS

Skyway Scott 12-03-2006 12:18 PM

There is still water on either side of the grassflat. :)

BigR 12-03-2006 01:01 PM

straight N or NNE we're goin' SW S ,esp low tide

Wolfie 12-03-2006 03:06 PM

I too look forward to seeing everyone somewhere tomorrow!

Kev 12-03-2006 03:38 PM

what happened to the 20 knot day tomorror. now the forecast is only 10 - 15..... :(

Skyway Scott 12-03-2006 03:45 PM

Hopefully the SW will work out.

tomstock 12-03-2006 08:33 PM

If it doesn't blow I'm going to work!

inferno 12-04-2006 04:15 AM

im going to start my drive south, probably end up at IRB since the clearwater sensor is reading twice any other sensor

call me if your heading out, or if the SW sensor goes up

BigR 12-04-2006 05:12 AM

Wind is inching up!

Lori and I are headed out now, hopefully it'll be blasting by when we get there :D

tomstock 12-04-2006 05:42 AM

I will be where ever it's blowing at around 10:00.

Danny, thanks for the call but I couldn't DP, I have to get the kid to school before I can ride.

Skyway Scott 12-04-2006 07:33 AM

It is definitely blowing in the skyway area, the trees at my house are getting blown everywhere. 20 plus material :P

bryanleighty 12-04-2006 07:47 AM

BOOM

meters just jumped big time!!!

ok.. NOW i want to leave work.

kite safe guys/gals.. see you in a few hours.

Skyway Scott 12-04-2006 07:48 AM

Several of us are hitting North Beach for some of the cleanest waves around :P

bryanleighty 12-04-2006 07:57 AM

silly wave riders.

silly silly silly.

BigR 12-04-2006 08:16 AM

Skyway South Rocked!!! :D :D :D :D

inferno 12-04-2006 08:53 AM

IRB was nice around 6:45-8, side on switching to side shore, solid 24 gusting to 30, i was perfectly litt on my new 13 waroo,
very nice kite, super stable in the air especially considering i was riding depowered, almost no flutter at all

definately jumps higher and stays there way longer then the 06 model, cant way to try it on flat water
also keeps more power on down loop transistions compared to the 06's

awsome kite

i did see stevo setting up the new SB 2 which looked real nice with a totally diferent bridle system then other Bows/SLE kites, looks like they might have the right idea, hopefully ill get to try one out for myself
later-

Skyway Scott 12-04-2006 03:37 PM

Danny,

Is the CLW sensor way off these days? Did it keep blowing or slow down?
Also, was it N or NNE or what?
Thanks.

inferno 12-04-2006 03:57 PM

it was north till about 8am then it slowly went NNE,
the sensor was way off this morning considering my wind meter was reading an average of 24 with lulls to 19 and gusts to 30 mph

i was pretty litt on my 13m, could have ridden a 9m 8)

Skyway Scott 12-04-2006 04:05 PM

Thanks.

tomstock 12-04-2006 04:15 PM

Well skyway wasnt as good. I was consistently underpowered on the 15m and not having fun on the 18m either. Spent all day slogging around and finally gave up and went home.

toby wilson 12-04-2006 04:17 PM

Well I'm sorry I missed out on all that excitement!!!

Skyway Scott 12-04-2006 04:44 PM

I had a great time on my 15. I was litt most of the time on my small board til it died :P (Note to self, this was ten minutes after Kev showed up!! LOL)

Heck, I had a great time on the 11 Instinct for about a half hour, too.
Then Donna, Tony and Tiff each rode it for about an 45 minutes each.

I already know who is gonna have my 15 in about 9 months

inferno 12-04-2006 04:49 PM

scott did you ride the north or south side???

Skyway Scott 12-04-2006 04:54 PM

North side.

I thought it was pretty good, but I don't need as much as I use to to get pretty litt up on these new kites. It was solid 15 for at least a couple hours, wasn't it, Tom? I can't tell on my kite anymore (that's a good thing!)
It was gusty, though.... I think that is what "got to" Tom.

I am confident the south side was much more windy and stable, because out in the channel it was nuking and a few guys came over from over there and said so, too. I just didn't know how fast the tide would come up on the other side to make for no land and "land"ing the kite difficult so I passed on that side.

inferno 12-04-2006 05:01 PM

if the wind is light tomorrow ill go to the south side, i want atleast 15 so i can ride my 13m in the fun zone for unhooking 8)
but i definately perfer the north side just so my gear stays clean :?
we will see

Correct, it WAS windy!

I was on the 14m starting at 7:00 and by the time Lori and I left ( 8:30 ) I would'a had to switch down in size for sure

Lori was on a 9m and a small board, she even "landed" her own kite by herself since by the time I saw her wanting to land and raced downwind from bishops island she was all landed

Good morning for sure, I think tommorow will be SW N , except for no water

Lori 12-04-2006 05:26 PM

I was a bit underpowered on the 9 wish I had rigged the 12 but thought it was going to pick up which it never did I should learn to rig for what it is blowing not what some forecast is saying it is going.

But all in all we had a good time at south side. Raul was plenty powered on his 14.

Raul forgot to mention I was on my small and only board since the SP was on BigR's feet  Here I go again creating conterversy

Glad I finally landed the Xbow kite on my own 8) . That is one thing I missed about the c-kite.

OUCH!!!!

tomstock 12-04-2006 07:16 PM

Well, it WAS blowing good in the morning... at 10am (when I arrived) is when it started falling off... after that it kept on dropping. Towards the end, I tried my 15m 18m, and a 16m waroo could not stay upwind on any of them and my lightwind board. I really felt like I wasted a day off of work... oh well... it was good to see everyone! The only kite I saw consistently powered up and jumping today was Scott's RRD.

I am convinced that is the best kite ever made, too bad I can't afford one.

TampaBay Noob 12-05-2006 09:51 AM

yeah I was down at clearwater and the wind was alright at about 11:00am. I'd say maybe 15knots.....then it just died to about 10. I need a bigger kite...what a bummer. I did see it pick up around 5:00pm, too bad I was in school.
