I'd prefer EB too ENE is ok NE is side shore NNE is off shore, but hey these forecasters can't call s#!t. Who knows what it will be blowing or when it will shift. I'll have my kite and kit in the car and if it is blowin I'll be late for work.

Bob

inferno 08-29-2006 04:09 PM

doppler doesnt look like its going to cooperate with us :?

inferno 08-29-2006 04:18 PM

gotta love the ikite forecast for tomorrow morning (SW)

time 4a 6a 8a 10a 12p 2p 4p 6p
wind 5 5 5 1 4 7 11 11

Skyway Scott 08-29-2006 04:23 PM

I was guessing East and thinking offshore at Cypress too.

Anyway, we got wind right now (ha!) I tried to get Donna up here today, but she couldn't come up :?

BigR 08-29-2006 04:26 PM

EB tommorow is a no no no

This is not about forecasting at all

it is about hurricanes, They spin in a certain direction, i.e. counterclockwise

Therefore by morning the wind will be NE , switching to N then to NW W SWetc
assuming the cane slides by to the east of us

If it passed to the west then we would get S followed by SW ( Gulp! ) then W and finally NW and N

Take a round spinner and move it around a map of tampa bay in different trajectories and you will get an idea of how winds will shift during a storm like this

inferno 08-29-2006 04:36 PM

R, your right, partially, the deciding factor is when the winds shift, if at 5am they are already NE then EB is a no go, but if they are still from the E then its a go... remember the good 'ol dayz bigR when we DP'd all the time, on the water by 6am and at work by 9am, in the 2hrs on the water the wind doesnt change direction,... much

skempthepimp 08-29-2006 05:36 PM

Ernesto

Steve Jerve has the eye(if you call it that) parallel to the bay area around 2PM, so I gotta think Skyway is gonna be a Nor' Easter in the AM, but maybe East at dawn, so logically I gotta say see ya at the Skyway. I just hope there's enough wind to get it up  .

Big G 08-29-2006 06:28 PM

Pimpman!!!!!There ya are....

I lost your number when I switched phones. Boats up and running and are planning a snook venture next week. I've got some wind praying to do tonight so I hope to run into you tomorrow.

bryanleighty 08-30-2006 04:14 AM

:( :( :( :( :( :(
At Least it looks good for later today and tomorrow

Unimog Bob 08-30-2006 04:32 AM

The wind is only 9 to 10 NE on ikite but doppler is showing a squal line around siebring. Not what I was hoping for. I'm going to go check it out anyway, If it is a no go I'll just be early to work instead of late. That way I'll have some brownie points for Thursday if Erinie sucks a little SW as he is leaving.

Tom I'll have to defer to your experience on where is best for a given direction, but gogole earth shows East Beach side shore in a NE, for a beginner that should be better (safer) than Skyway, shouldn't it?

latino 08-30-2006 05:00 AM

wenesday 8 /30 5; 56 am naples no wind :( only rain

bryanleighty 08-30-2006 07:17 AM

looking better 17 NE..
damn. im at work.

BigR 08-30-2006 07:26 AM

The squalls don't look like they hit yet @8am but they are about to

Skyway Scott 08-30-2006 07:46 PM

I could see that from here (baynews9 skycam)
It was NW to NNW, right?
Not W like on the PaG sensor? http://www.ikitesurf.com/windAndWher...14&siteID=1428

Was it more like this, I bet.
http://www.ikitesurf.com/windAndWher...49&siteID=1838

We got next to nothing :? Oh well, got to test out a new light wind board

BigR 08-30-2006 09:29 PM

NNW

17 down to 13ish back up to 15ish all from 1-4pm then looks like all heck broke loose after I left

most everyone on 16m

Scottie , that 14 m really ROCKS! :D :o 8) :)

tomstock 08-30-2006 10:04 PM

Yeah all hell broke loose all right. I put up my 15m and was afraid I was rigging too big. Then the wind shifted off shore and then stopped completely. I did half tack and my kite fell out of the sky. That was it, it was over. Zero. Nothing. I packed up and went home sandy, wet, and pissed off.

Glad you guys got to ride :) Looked like fun. I'm absoloutley positive that if I hadn't shown up it would have kept blowing.
