Hittin skyway Thursday nite at 8PM. If u r up for a nite ride let me know. Tide should be low and wind strong.
We did it last friday and it was sick. Rode into Holiday Inn for food/refreshments then rode back to skyway.

I'm not being disrespectful, but don't you worry about the shadow people that time of night near the skyway? A friend of mine who used to dive for stone crabs under the skyway(when it was not a terrorist act) shot a video near some of the pilings, and I counted at least 10 bull sharks at one time. His taste for freshly caught stone crabs now relies on Billy's in Tierre Verde. Try not to look like a tarpon when you ride. Any one have any close shark encounters? I was taking a lesson last year in Islamorada with 7, standing on the sand flats, kite at 12 when 4 or five tarpon streaked past about ten feet from me, I remember thinking they must be chasing dinner, when I saw what was chasing them. Small hammerhead - 6 foot maybe. Water was clear and he knew what he was after so I continued with the ride, even tho I was falling a lot at the time. Later that night on the news, a guy was bitten by a shark in Islamorada. Seems the guy was doing his usual 9 pm swim to a half sunken boat. Got bitten 2 or 3 times and managed to get himself to his car and drive to a park ranger who got him help. B-rad probably knows this story better.

the tide will be really low so it should only be 1 ft deep. looks like that wind might not come thru tonight... maybe friday nite

Very weird.
At 5:54 PM Skyway was showing 15 knots from the WEST and Port of Tampa was 16 knots from the EAST.
Guess that seabreeze line is right in the middle of the bay.
Should be good between 8 PM and 11 PM tonight. Tide will be low but rideable at skyway

I got out this morning at East Beach to do some self rescue stuff with students and watched Whitey tearin it up in 8 knots on his Speed 2. That kite is just plain sick, it even stays "inflated" laying on the beach. He says it reverse relaunches very easily even if it sits in the water 20 min. I didnt get to ride it this time, but hoping to get on the waiting list...
I also just got back from T.I. where it was blowing pretty good, 15 or so. I got about 1 1/2 hours riding, I was just finishing up loading my truck when the rain hit.

Geeze here I am, just pulled in to key west bight at conch harbor on an 80' ketch and there is not even a breeze. I've got a golf bag full of gear stashed in the engine room, but it doesn't look like I'll be taking it out. Maybe on the return trip...
