What we need most is pulling power.(boat or lotsa chain/straps/truck.) I can stop by and measure the distance to the beach.
I think 4 or 5 of us with shovels/pry bars and some seroius pull could drag it out.
Bayflite-you got a trailer for the pontoon yet?

I'd offer up the Sea Ray for pulling power but I am not around this weekend or the 17th to the 25th. More than happy to dig or pull from the channel after that though.

As for the backside, other than the stench, weirdos and sketchiness, I love it. I am riding upwind now 8) and always look for the buoy when going both ways and stay at least 20 yards out from shore. I think that the VERY LEAST we should do is to re-paint that buoy, it blends in well with the water sometimes. Maybe spray paint it neon yellow or white or something that will easily show up...at least until we get that beast out of there...

I will say that 15 feet is a LOT to dig out...

neon yellow will blend in with the suns reflections on the water, as will white.

yeah thats alot of work to get that out of there. It's pretty much completly barried.

What about like neon green or orange then? red? I still think that a white or yellow would be best though because there were some styrofoam cups floating around yesterday that were of course white and VERY visible and I mistook them for the buoy a couple of times before picking them up. The buoy is all but invisible out there, it blends in with the water VERY well...

I'll bring some spray paint next time i get out to backside.. maybe saturday ... i have white/yellow/bright blue/bright red.. etc.. we can test some on a piece of wood or something and see..

Pulling from the channel would work. Less distance also.
Buoys dont solve the problem, we have to remove it.
Dig around, pry/jack it up/pull it.
Another weekend or weekday would be fine.

any low tide evening in the next couple weeks works fine for me as well.. at least to do a survey of the area.. some preliminary digging to see if its even realistic to move it.

cool deal.I will meet you out there Brian. (813)389-3683 Steve
If you guys hadnt busted that thing up, our friend would not have been nearly as lucky. We owe it to ourselves and to new kiters to exhume this death blade before someone gets hurt(again).

Any one of the East Beach "crossings" would have been REALLY BAD at the Skyway.
I am almost too nervous to kite there, honestly.
