Starting in reverse, well maybe. Anyway, day II came out of the soup first so here you go. The event has continued this week and should go through the coming weekend.
For now, here's (part of) Sunday ... http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...2_IMG_5465.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/flying_II.jpg Everybody is flying http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Kent_s.jpg Kent was warming up for the downwind race and ripping all over the place, fast. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/riding_time.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/riding.jpg Let's go hit the equipment. Very few of the riders to almost none were in helmets. Sad thing, nothing that I recommend either. Despite that I didn't want to suppress the photos, this time, or Photoshop everyone's head off, etc.. Next time someone well known gets badly injured or killed, folks will likely rethink how they approach this sort of thing. Sad that it takes that sort of tragic event to bring focus on easy, obvious precautions. Anyway on to the shots ... http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/andy_hunter.jpg Andy rides out as Hunter grabs some video http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Jon_passes.jpg Jons passes as he pops off the pyramid as Mike grabs some video http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/billy_IMG_6639.jpg Billy's out of there http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/damo_flys.jpg Damo does a fly by http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...n_IMG_6314.jpg Wetting down the kicker http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Billy_001.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/andy.jpg Andy putting on some speed http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/slide_out.jpg Mike grabs some shots from the end of the slider, " ... please don't crush me!" http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Andy_kicks_out.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/damo_rips.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/kicker_IMG_6486.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/flying.jpg Birds and kites http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/passing.jpg Lots of riding talent on the water http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/damo_slides.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Stacey_pops.jpg Stacey pops a ralley http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...cks_n_damo.jpg Jon kicks off as Hamish slides by on a skimboard http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...s_IMG_6236.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...a_n_Stacey.jpg Mellisa and Stacey rip along the shallows http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Hamish_passes.jpg Hamish was going off everything on a strapless skimboard. Must use real sticky wax! http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/dragged.jpg Things don't always go as planned http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/gebi_kicks.jpg Gebi kicks off Lots more to come, be right back! |

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/jon_board_off.jpg This shot reminds me of something ... what is it? http://www.lydiaolydia.com/playingharp.gif Can't think of it From: http://www.lydiaolydia.com/adolph.html http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Billy_hammock.jpg Hey Billy, not sure there is enough room for you in the hammock right now http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/gebi_lines.jpg Gebi through the lines http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/bam.jpg BAMM! Hey Ken, where's that ballistic moose, need some bad http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Doug_IMG_4650.jpg You pointing at me?! http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/damo_ride.jpg Damo rides the directional board of the future. No more kiting standing up, next you'll have a built in beer cooler http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/down.jpg Sure looks like fun http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/damo_sprint.jpg Racing da Black Dog http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Sean_goes_bush.jpg Sean goes flyabout in the bush http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Jon_ride.jpg Jon isn't satisfied with just sitting on his board, he does this one handed push up thing as he turns his body 360 http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/race_001.jpg No end of races http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...al_s.sized.jpg Thierry and Tal looking for shots http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/up.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/will.jpg Will boosts and the crowd goes wild! |
I drove down to Islamorada for the day last Saturday to catch the CKA event and II09. More about the CKA contest soon in a separate post. Lots of images to process. For now, a look at the Islamorada Invitational on Saturday along with random images from the weekend before.
http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/..._1_s.sized.jpg A 3/4 round view of Whale Harbor near sunset. Some guys are on the water working the late day breeze. (CLICK image for full sized photo) http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/garry_P3140038.jpg Garry brought a bunch of Jimmy Lewis standup boards for folks to demo. I tried a couple myself, real nice performers too. I think that is Mike tooling up from the south http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Flats_IMG_9253.jpg The wind had eased off around midday and bumped back slightly near sundown http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Jose_P3140025.jpg Jose glides along http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Gebi_s.jpg Flashing back to last weekend, Gebi eases over the Temple of Doom http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/billy_dog_board.jpg Billy tools his pooch along on his home brewed motorized board http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...e_P3140035.jpg Jose does a fly by of Garry http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/rip_kicker_s.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Sunset_IMG_9266.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Race_II.jpg Back to the downwind race last weekend. The guys are making the first turn and bunching up http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Race_III.jpg Kent pulls way out, followed by Damo, Billy and Jon http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/G_T_s_IMG_5694.jpg George and Thierry catch some action on the water http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...y_P3140042.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...e_P3140018.jpg Ian points towards Double Shot Cay on Cay Sal Banks and thinks "I'm there," once the wind picks up. Mike opts for the other direction. Hey, I'd like to go, it's been years! http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/jon_IMG_4031.jpg Jon pops up near the photo boat. I was thinking, wouldn't be great if you could fly on these things as in "Back to the Future" Part 80 or something? In a way, I guess we can, good thing too. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/beach_P3140023.jpg Peaceful time of day http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Twins_s.jpg The Lange twins officiate the judging http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...h_P3140017.jpg Dogs love standup, ask Paula! http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/waroo_IMG_9280.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Pelican_s.jpg They call it Whale Harbor but I bet the Caloosa's called it Pelican Digs or something. These guys were scenically draped all over. My tribute shot to Ansel Adams. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/Hamish_slides.jpg I think Hamish landed this one too http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...i_IMG_5571.jpg Ken relates racing strategies to Maui http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/gebi_IMG_3965.jpg Gebi-san rips a turn http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/garry_P3140050.jpg I thought these boards had a mast foot depression, in fact it is a highly convenient carrying point as Garry aptly demonstrates. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...e_IMG_9222.jpg Wall to wall standup boards, demo'ing at a beach near you. Stay tuned for more on that via Garry and Ken, new distributors for JL Boards. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...s_IMG_9226.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album384/...e_IMG_9313.jpg Heading home, I stopped off at the former site of the Invitational, the Monkey Bar at Holiday Isle. Great times there, you can see a kite over Whale Harbor in the distance. That is a lot of photos, there are still more. Will they see the light of day on here? Time will tell. See you for now from II09! |

Your shots are excellent and by a pro too. I shoot for fun mostly. It is good when things come together though. High praise and thanks but I probably could learn a great deal more from yourself!
|
