This is a rare beach front single family home community in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. It starts just north of the guarded public beach and extends northward to Oakland Park Blvd. and the south end of Galt Ocean Mile. There are two metered parking lots, one at NE 27 St. and the other to the north at Vista Park. Both fill up regularly. Car pooling in makes sense. I believe metered parking is $1.75 per hour. Dropping people off and parking in metered spots to the west of A1A over by Shooters, etc. is a backup possibility. There are no lifeguards on this private section of beach.

There are sections of small ledges, coral in patch areas on the first reef about 800 ft. offshore. There is a low profile east facing ledge about 1400 ft. offshore. Both are worth visiting in their own right and might even have lobsters at times (the nearshore area seems more likely for this). Then there are a couple of sand channels with hard bottom areas. The inner second reef is marked by a low west facing ledge with lots of staghorn coral followed by a larger east facing ledge at about 1/2 mile offshore. Who knows this might even resemble a dense packed staghorn reef like they used to have in the Keys someday. This is also the area in which there are some "twin ledges." There is another sand channel followed a spur and groove reef zone extending out to about .7 mile comprising the outer second reef. The mooring buoys are situated on the outer second reef in this area.
